Our teeth are constantly under pressure as we need to chew and bite on a daily basis. Composite bonding can support fillings that are small or medium in size and therefore provides more structure to the tooth.

Composite bonding is among the easiest cosmetic dental procedures.

Compared to veneers and crowns, composite bonding involves removing the smallest amount of tooth enamel.
Usually, composite bonding won’t require anaesthesia.
Our dentist will use a shade guide to choose a composite resin colour that closely matches the colour of your tooth.
The tooth’s surface will be roughened. This will be followed by the application of a conditioning liquid.
The tooth-coloured resin is applied, moulded and smoothed to the required shape. Then, an ultraviolet light or laser will harden the resin.
Our dentist will trim, shape and polish the resin so that it perfectly matches the tooth’s surface.

What is composite bonding?
Bonding is the application of a tooth-coloured composite resin to repair a decayed, chipped, fractured, discoloured tooth, to make teeth appear longer, and as a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings. We can often improve the shape and sometimes colour of the teeth with this treatment.
What’s involved?
Bonding is performed by the dentist, with or sometimes without the involvement of a dental laboratory. Due to the artistic nature of the procedure the treatment time will be longer than normal white fillings, to ensure the bonding is executed with perfection.
What aftercare is needed?
With normal care, today’s composite material is durable enough to last without regular attention. However we recommend regular dental check ups and to avoid biting down on particularly hard foods, or ice to prevent cracking.
Will the composite stain?
Yes over time. As with natural teeth, staining will be less if you avoid or reduce exposure to tobacco, coffee, tea, soy sauce, curry, colas, grape juice, blueberries, or red wine. Brush and floss normally. Do not use baking soda or any abrasive toothpaste.
When can composite bonding be used?
